Our Practice
We are a small evolving practice that takes pride in delivering design led, energy efficient, comfortable buildings.
We have a range of domestic, non-domestic and commercial projects underway and work extensively with existing buildings.
We are a practice that is acutely aware of the climate crisis and the need to reduce carbon emissions from the built environment and undertake a large amount of community engagement.
The Position
We are looking for a full time Architectural Technologist to assist with the delivery of retrofit projects across the north east. We will also consider applications from associated disciplines such a Building Surveyors, Architectural Engineers etc.
We use a range of testing methods and specialist equipment to derive science based energy assessments of existing buildings. We work to the latest standards for all our work in including PAS2035, PAS2038, The Passivhaus Standard and AECB Standards.
Applicants can expect to receive extensive training and we are looking for someone who is willing to be hands on, assisting with on-site retrofit assessments and various testing methods.
The work is primarily focussed on domestic dwellings in the north east of Scotland, although community projects and commercial projects also form part of the portfolio.
Main Duties
Successful candidates can expect to:
- Develop project drawings, specifications and other related documentation
- Working with the design team to develop planning and building warrant applications
- Conducting site surveys and whole house retrofit assessments
- Conducting site surveys and whole house retrofit assessments
- Conduct Whole Life Cycle Assessments on live projects
- Conducting Thermal Bridge analysis on live projects
- Conducting Hygrothermal analysis on live projects
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
- Qualified in Building Surveying, Architectural Technology or similar discipline
- Must be competent in CAD and have working knowledge of SketchUp
- Working knowledge of Scottish Building Standards
- Capable of working autonomously and as part of a small team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, design teams, contractors and local authorities
- Must be self motivated, punctual, organised and never afraid to ask questions.
- Hold a full driving license
Desirable:
- Climate literacy and awareness of the challenge faced by the construction sector
- Interested in low-energy design and community focussed solutions
- Adobe CC experience
- Hands on construction experience, building or renovating houses
- Knowledge of thermal bridge analysis using Flixo
- Knowledge of hygrothermal analysis using WUFI Pro
